Successful business case helps Major Projects Victoria to redevelop Melbourne Park and secure the Australian Open tennis tournament until 2036.

Melbourne Park’s many venues adjoin with Olympic Park to form a multi-venue entity known as Melbourne & Olympic Parks – one of the biggest sports and entertainment precincts in the world. This precinct attracts more than two million people every year and hosts around 600 events, including the popular Australia Open tennis tournament at Melbourne Park.

We prepared the cost-benefit analysis and economic impact assessment of Stages 2 and 3 of the Melbourne Park redevelopment. Our report for Major Projects Victoria outlined various user and non-user benefits of the redevelopment, visitor forecasts, and financial advice from consulting firm Ernst and Young.

Our business case was successful with both Stage 2 and Stage 3 works being approved, guaranteeing that Melbourne Park will retain the Australian Open until at least 2036.
