Research undertaken by SGS has shown that the Dandenong South Industrial Precinct continues to evolve as one of the nation’s premier employment centres. It is attracting a broad range of industrial businesses which are innovating, exporting and employing a significant proportion of the region’s workforce.
In an effort to manage the continued growth and evolution of this State Significant Industrial Precinct and National Employment Cluster, the City of Greater Dandenong required a strong understanding of the market dynamics within the area. A thorough supply and demand assessment led by SGS has shown that whilst the precinct still possesses up to 15 years of employment land supply, there are opportunities to:
- Deliver and enhance infrastructure
- Plan and tailor the precinct to meet specialised business requirements
- Optimise the use and consumption of remaining supply
- Renew old sites to bring recycled land supply to the market
Based on those tenets SGS has developed an integrated strategy and implementation programme for Council to pursue over the next 15 years; guiding the continued evolution of a key component of Victoria’s industrial economy.
