Today the NSW Innovation and Productivity Council launched the NSW Innovation and Productivity Scorecard, which builds on recent work by SGS.
In 2017, SGS worked with the NSW Department of Industry and NSW Innovation and Productivity Council to develop a framework to measure innovation and productivity over time across the various regions of New South Wales, including Sydney. The framework included indicators to measure research and collaboration, skills and productivity.
This scorecard is the first to provide New South Wales specific data for comparison against both domestic and international benchmark locations and helps evaluate ways to improve both innovation and productivity. Our analysis found that New South Wales is performing strongly across a range of metrics with the potential to further drive innovation by increasing expenditure in research and development and addressing any skill shortages or untapped potential in the skilled labour force.
