Understanding the Role of Local Government in Regional Economic Development
SGS undertook a national study of the Evolving Role of Local Government in Economic Development Facilitation in Australia on behalf of the Department of Transport & Regional Services. A key component of the study was a survey of 165 Local Government Authorities from around Australia, and across different classifications of Local Government, regarding their current and anticipated roles and activities in facilitating business investment and employment growth in their areas of jurisdiction and wider region. The study resulted in a series of key findings and policy considerations for the Commonwealth to facilitate Local Government's role in economic development (with O'Neil Pollock & Associates).
