Sunshine Coast Regional Economic Development Strategy
SGS was commissioned by the Sunshine Coast Regional Organisation of Councils (SunROC) to prepare an economic development strategy for the Sunshine Coast region. The SunROC member Councils and associated agencies are committed to taking a regional approach to economic development. Previous ‘disjointed' approaches to regional development facilitation and promotion on the Sunshine Coast arguably caused difficulties for businesses, organisations and individuals across all segments of the community to understand and determine a common approach to regional issues and opportunities. This made it particularly difficult to demonstrate a shared vision for the region to government decision-makers in Brisbane and Canberra. The regional economic development strategy, the first of its kind for the Sunshine Coast, was prepared to provide a clear direction for the future, identify priorities and to promote a shared vision and collaborative action for regional prosperity on the Sunshine Coast.
