South East Queensland's Economic Development: Where to Now?

What policies and actions should governments take to facilitate the South East Queensland metropolitan region's economic development? Economic development experts Sasha Lennon and Marcus Spiller of SGS Economics and Planning, and Graham Larcombe of Strategic Economics, shared their perspectives on future directions at the SGS Quarterly Seminar held in Brisbane on November 9. The discussion is timely in the light of recent changes that have impacted on the region's economic fortunes: the Global Financial Crisis, changing fortunes in the resources sector, local government amalgamations, continued population growth with associated infrastructure demands, and the release of the South East Queensland Regional Plan.
