Planning for climate change: what strategies can we use? Expert panel discussion


The ACT Division of the Planning Institute of Australia and SGS Economics & Planning recently presented "Planning for Climate Change": a panel discussion about climate change adaptation strategies.


Clive Attwater, SGS Director, explored a case study of climate change impacts on the Clarence coastal area in Tasmania and discussed what risks residents are prepared to accept when understanding the impacts that climate change will have on their community and way of life.


Other distinguished speakers discussing research, case studies and policy positions included Neil Savery, chief Planning Executive, ACTPLA and PIA National President (chair); Guy Barnett, Research Scientist, CSIRO, DR John Higgins, A/Assistant Secretary, Adaptation Innovation Branch, Department of Climate Change; and Prof Brian Roberts, Emeritus Professor, University of Canberra.
