New Economic Development Strategy launched at Gladstone Region Summit

The new Gladstone Region Economic Development Strategy launched on 18 March harnesses a partnership approach, a vision and an action plan for facilitating economic development in the region.

Launching the strategy at the Gladstone Region of Choice Summit, SGS Director Sasha Lennon emphasized the strategy involves a partnership between the region's agencies and representative organizations. He unveiled the strategy's 20 key actions in three strategic areas: economic development leadership and co-operation; labour market, small business capabilities and workforce skills; and diversification through investment attraction, industry facilitation & business development.

The summit also heard of emerging large-scale industrial opportunities in Gladstone associated with the emerging Liquid Natural Gas sector, the development of Gladstone Port and the continued growth of the Queensland coal industry.
