SGS's "Gold Coast Creative Industries Audit and Medium-term Strategy" has been awarded a certificate of merit for Urban Planning Achievement in the 2006 Planning Institute of Australia Queensland Division 2006 Awards for Planning Excellence. The audit and strategy was commissioned by Gold Coast City Council. In the judges' words: "This project was recognised for its approach to strategy building upon real capabilities. It steps beyond the buzz words of ‘creative industries' and provides practical and pro-active ways to build on the creative industry potential of the Gold Coast".

The study identified the economic worth and the dynamics of the City's creative industries, producing data to inform economic development and cultural strategy planning by Gold Coast City Council and its industry partners. Based on findings from research, an audit of creative industries, and consultations, it set out a medium-term strategy to guide Council's activities that support creative industries on the Gold Coast.
