SGS Economics and Planning (SGS) are pleased to announce that Luke Nicholls has joined SGS as a Principal in the Sydney Practice.
Luke joins SGS after a successful career in local government in NSW. Luke is an urban and regional planner and is currently completing a Masters of Environmental Law from Sydney University. Over the past two years Luke has been the General Manager of Bankstown City Council and led a major transformation of this organisation. This included the development and adoption of integrated long-term planning framework for Bankstown, including the community strategic plans, asset and financial plans and a workforce strategy.
Prior to this appointment Luke has experience as an urban and regional planner, including roles as Director of Development & Environment at Port Macquarie Hastings Council, a major growth centre on the Mid North Coast of NSW, and Group Manager ESD at Bankstown, a major Sydney Metropolitan LGA.
As City Planner for regional and metropolitan cities, Luke has developed and delivered strategies which have guided growth and sustainable development. During his time in local government he has led city-wide strategic planning and preparation of integrated local area strategies. Recently he has led renewal programs for the major centre of Bankstown and planning for towns as diverse as Port Macquarie, Yagoona and Katoomba.
"Luke is a successful local government planner and manager and will provide an added dimension to the work being undertaken out of the Sydney office" said Rob Lee, Practice Leader Sydney.
