Indeed, for every dollar spent delivering such housing, over a 30-50 year timeframe we can reasonably expect to accrue at least $1.7 to $2.5 back in quantifiable, societal benefits..."

SGS consultant Cameron Brenton, writing in the April 2005 issue of Planning News, journal of the Planning Institute of Australia's Victorian chapter, drew this conclusion based on a number of social cost benefit analyses (CBA) of public and affordable housing projects in Victoria that SGS recently conducted.
