SGS Principal Sasha Lennon and Consultant Mark Donaldson will be facilitating a workshop at the 18th Annual Native Tile & Cultural Heritage Conference in Perth on Wednesday 16th November.
The workshop will explore the fundamentals of economic development in an Indigenous context. They will address important cultural considerations, successes, challenges and strategies for social and economic development. Particular attention will be paid to the nature of economic development strategies in resource regions, both regional and remote. Sasha and Mark have worked in various resource regions including Weipa, Jabiru, the Hunter, Gladstone, the Bowen Basin and the Gascoyne. The workshop will look at the ‘enablers' of economic development and the role of governments, non-government organisations, businesses and community stakeholders in the facilitation of economic and community development.
